wicked anti-migraine diet


panda started me on this diet that was torture at first. i am getting used to it.
it is an "anti-migraine" diet. a low tyramine diet. from the headaches.org website.

tyramin is produced with the breakdown of the tyrosine amino acid. tyramine levels increase when foods are aged, fermented or stored for long periods. ie, not fresh!

MEAT
ok: fresh meats, fish, poultry :: canned or frozen.
so so: nitrates
not ok: fermented sausage: pepporoni, salami, summer sausage, etc / non-fresh meats, fish poultry, pickled herring 
limit: tofu / tempah to 10 oz per day
limit: processed meats and/or aged cheeses to 4 oz per day

DAIRY
ok: milk: whole, 2%, skim / fresh cheese: american, cottage cheese, cream cheese, mozzarella
not ok: aged cheeses: cheddar, blue cheese, brie, swiss, parmesean, provolone (see limit in meats)

BREADS, CEREALS, PASTA
ok: all breads, biscuits, pancakes, cooked & dry cereal /  all pasta: spaghetti, rotini, macaroni, egg noodles

VEGETABLES
so so: raw onion
not ok: fava beans, broad deans
limit: soy sauce, miso, teryaki to 1 oz per day

FRUITS
limit: citrus fruits to 1/2 cup per day

SOUPS
ok: homemade broths

BEVERAGES
ok: decaff coffee or tea, club soda, caffeine free carbonated beverages
limit: caffeinated beveraged to 200mg per day
limit: alcohol: either 2 bottles/cans domestic beer or 4 oz wine
not ok: tap beer

DESSERTS & SWEETS
ok: sugar, jelly, jam, honey, hard candies, cakes, cookies
limit: chocolate: ice cream (1 cup), cookies (1 average size), pudding (1 cup), cake (3 inch cube), chocolate candies (1/2 oz) :: all count as 1 serving caffeinated beverage. 

INGREDIENTS
not ok: MSG, nitrates/nitrites, sulfites, aspartane

FATS, OILS, MISC
ok: cooking oils, fats, vinegar, extracts
not ok: concentrated yeast extract (ie, marmite/vegemite)

basically: no caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, aged cheeses, processed meats, MSG, aspartane, nitrates, sulfites!!!  yeah, try that.  after a couple weeks, migraines gone.  also with the aid of one other ingredient not listed that i supplement as needed.
