more about me

this blog has existed for 7 years now with only one entry back in 2006. recently, i have been prodded to keep a blog. don't count on heavy frequency, but hey i might just surprise you.

i generally keep myself too busy to hang out on the internet. i like real life better. until last summer, i was doing graduate studies in speech therapy. i loved the work, but dreaded the education process and inherent politics within the university. it was a bloody mess. so, i lasted one year and now have a job in mental health instead which is wholly satisfying.

i do not dread going to work on any given day. i refuse to do a job simply to pay the bills. i would rather be homeless and starving than do something that didn't drive me. i have had dead end jobs to make ends meet, but life always felt a pointless waste. other co-workers looked forward to the weekend, even on monday. it just seemed too depressing to only enjoy 2/7 of a life. like Thoreau, i refuse to live for the promise of a better tomorrow. every day of my life is equally rewarding, more or less :)

i do not advocate taking a job just because it pays enough to sustain a lifestyle. do what suits you and then adjust expenses to live within means. it may be a bit more difficult than it sounds, but it is possible and worth it in the end.

in my free time, i do some part time jobs and volunteer jobs and generally create havoc. i am occasionally a comedian, but jokes come about as frequently as blogs. i volunteer at the public library because it soothes my obsessive tendencies to just sit and attach new book jackets for hours on end and i can compulsively organize things that are perpetually out of order. i am starting to do shows on radio (keol 91.7fm in la grande - go to http://cast.eou.edu for a live stream). bringing unique things to people is a treat. when i have showtimes, i will post info here or on one of the other places i occasionally lurk on the internet. the websites below are the primary ones i exist on and more or less in the order of importance. that means if you wanna stalk me, start at the top of the list.
